D2 covers the northwest quadrant — where the city meets the mountains and Garden of the Gods.
Rockrimmon — A large residential area on the northwest hillside with panoramic Pikes Peak views. Established in the 1970s–80s, family-oriented with good schools and proximity to open space.
Mountain Shadows — Located near the 2012 Waldo Canyon fire scar, which destroyed 347 homes. Rebuilt and resilient, but wildfire mitigation remains a defining concern.
Garden of the Gods — The city’s most iconic park (1,367 acres of red-rock formations) sits in D2. Surrounding neighborhoods deal with tourist traffic, parking, and commercial development pressures.
Peregrine & Kissing Camels — Upscale gated and golf-course communities near Garden of the Gods. Large lots, HOA governance, and a focus on property values and quality of life.

Former member of the Colorado Springs Planning Commission. Appointed to fill the vacancy left by councilmember Tom Bailey in a contentious 5–3 vote. Sworn in April 13, 2026. Plans to balance needed growth with listening to residents’ concerns — a stance informed by his planning commission experience reviewing development proposals.
Casey brings a land-use perspective from his planning commission service. His appointment was contentious — Donelson, Henjum, and Gold voted against, citing concerns about his ability to commit fully while holding a full-time job. His partial term ends April 2027, when D2 goes to a special election.
